Harrison Elementary

The community of South Lane School District invested in a new elementary school that opened in 2018. Working closely with the district to identify important community points of pride and history, Mindy Lyman, of A.L.L. Interiors, developed a warm, bright inspiring interior that incorporates the history and surrounding community, while a designer at BLRB Architects. The massive entryway is designed to look like the inside of the historic Chambers Bridge and features vaulted ceilings with exposed wooden beams. There is wood paneling throughout, coupled with acoustic art panels that highlight several large historical photos to tell the story of the school and community. The photos include images of covered bridges, former Cottage Grove High School basketball teams and members from the local Native American tribes. The colors are related to the grade level pods and serve as an identifying marker and wayfinding tool. Beautiful photography of local waterfalls further identify the grade pods, and have become field trip learning opportunity locations for the school.
