Grandma’s House
Grandma’s House is a non-profit home and outreach, “providing emergency and transitional shelter to homeless or abused pregnant, parenting young mothers, and young mothers choosing adoption for their child.” Located in Bend, Oregon, Grandma’s was in need of a teaching kitchen to help new mothers learn to care for their children, cook and provide for themselves in a group environment. Mindy Lyman, Co-Chair of he HDDC (High Desert Design Council) and owner of A.L.L. Interiors, provided design services for construction and permit documents as well as interior design assistance while a designer at Pinnacle Architecture. Mindy and HDDC volunteers designed a bright, comfortable space for the residents in the mission to make a positive difference to a new mom and baby experiencing hardship.
